Terms of use

General Terms and Conditions of Use

Clear, fair and with one principle at the centre: Laura suggests, the teacher decides.

Laura prüft eine Bewertung

§ 1 Scope

These terms apply to the use of the software and website "Laura" (hereinafter the "Service"), provided by Laura Rochet (the Provider, see Imprint). By registering for or using the Service, the teacher or school (the User) accepts these terms.

§ 2 Description of Services

Laura is a correction and assessment assistant for handwritten class tests. The Service supports recognition, grading proposals, correction and evaluation. The scope of functions and the tariffs follow from the current pricing overview.

§ 3 Teacher Decision (core principle)

Laura suggests, the teacher decides. The Service never independently sets a final grade. All proposals generated by the AI are non-binding aids that are exclusively reviewed, changed or confirmed by the responsible teacher. The pedagogical and legal responsibility for every assessment remains entirely with the teacher or school.

§ 4 Obligations of the User

  • Access credentials must be kept confidential and not passed on.
  • The Service may only be used within the applicable school and data protection regulations.
  • Uploading personal student data in cloud processing modes takes place only on a permissible legal basis and, where required, with consent obtained.

§ 5 Data Protection

The Service is built "local-first": data only leaves the device after a deliberate click. Details on processing modes, technical measures and data processing on behalf of the controller are described in the data protection information. For the processing of student data, the using school or teacher is the controller within the meaning of the GDPR.

§ 6 Availability

We strive for high availability of the Service, but do not owe uninterrupted accessibility. Maintenance windows, further development and force majeure may temporarily limit availability. Core functions remain, as far as possible, usable offline (local-first).

§ 7 Liability

The Provider is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence as well as under the Product Liability Act. In the case of slight negligence, it is liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations) and limited to the foreseeable damage typical for the contract. Since the Service only delivers proposals and every assessment is finally decided by the teacher, there is no liability for the User's assessment decisions.

§ 8 Term and Termination

Contracts depend on the chosen tariff. Unless otherwise agreed, subscriptions can be terminated at the end of the respective billing period. The right to extraordinary termination for good cause remains unaffected.

§ 9 Final Provisions

German law applies. Should individual provisions be invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is unaffected. Changes to these terms will be communicated in good time.

Section 10 Survey and pilot registration of interest

The teachers’ survey and non-binding registration of interest for three free pilot months are subject to the separate participation terms (German). Registration gives immediate access to the questionnaire. It does not activate the app. A confirmed trial ends automatically without a paid renewal. Withdrawing analytics consent or declining advertising does not affect participation or pilot registration. These terms do not exclude expressly agreed services or mandatory statutory rights.
